Contest set to find symbolic Co-ops Year poster

July 28 2011

Graphic designers around the world are being given the chance to win £2,000 (US$3,500) in a contest to design a poster for the UN’s 2012 International Year of Co-operatives.

The competition, organised by International Co-operative Alliance, is around the theme of “Co-operative enterprises build a better world”.

Designers are being asked to illustrate this concept alongside the official International Year logo and tagline, and entries must be submitted to the ICA by September 23rd. The winner will be notified on October 3rd.

Important concepts for designers to bear in mind, according to the ICA, are people, global, sustainable, co-operation, and also that co-operatives are successful values based businesses, owned by their members.

The ICA will unveil the poster on November 14th at its General Assembly in Cancun, Mexico and make it available for purchase from the IYC website www.2012.coop.
